Porch Lion Sentry- Oil Plein Air Painting 9"x 12"

After two days of preparing about 30 panels,
I was really chompin' on the bit to do some
painting.

Drove over to some friends to drop something
off and they invited me to stay, have a bit of
desert...hang a bit, but I really wanted to paint.

So, I compromised...setting up my paint box
and tripod in their front yard. A tree blocked
the sun going down tonight...but I saw enough
subtle shading that would make an interesting
painting. Would like to try painting this one
again when sun is hitting strong....

The panel is hardboard, with a weave like
texture on the back. I chose to gesso/prime a
number of boards on this textured side to get
that canvas-like weave. I was pretty please
with the results...though this one with time I
had is a bit more in that oil sketch category.
Would have liked having a bit more time to
paint this one...but, with what I did, I'm fairly
satisfied.

thanks...yep, I'm the older one. They say the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree...but, Jason is in a league of his own, so very proud of him, so extremely talented.
