Spent this last Friday and Saturday with friends Kathleen and Chuck Eaton...with artists from parts beyond at Stephenson Park near a marina in Marinette, Wisconsin...and painted a couple 14"x 18"s on stretched linen...
The first, a number of moored boats I used a split-complementary color palette, taking numerous photos along the way for a demo I am putting together for Artist Network University...
On Saturday, I was amused by a cropping view of a Mercury outboard motor at the stern of a sailboat, and reflections in water...and my aim was to use much paint...push edges, use larger bolder strokes of paint...
And...in a sharing time with artists, I mentioned that I spent near 17 years in the wildlife art biz working to develop photo realism skills, and have been spending the last 17-18 years trying to get away from it...and, I think the latter is more difficult to be honest.

Love the subtle colors in the first painting and the water in the second - so much light and life to them!
thanks Matthew...
