Quinnesec, Michigan's Fumee Falls...6"x 8" gouache

Finished this afternoon...one of my favorite snow on the way out sites to visit to set up and paint on location, as the volume of water makes this falls impressive...

This one done in the comfort of my home however...and early signs of spring yet a long way off...

clicking on image brings up larger view, and...for those interested, you can see a stage by stage animation of this one from start to finish at Wetcanvas... Fumee Falls...gouach animation

Such a lovely view and your animation is so helpful to see your steps. I was really surprised at how you start. Thanks.

Larry, you have composed an orchestra of color here.
The flow of life and richness of nature defined on a 6x8 is impressive.
wouldn't gouache freeze if you painted outside, or could you use
alcohol?

thanks Bill...
well, might be a new learning curve, but I have my ole familiar love affair with oils which takes on the cold no problem...

My intent playing with the gouache was to play with ideas as concerns my oils, without the smell or mess in our home living space...but, didn't anticipate the gouache would be so much fun and a particular ease for me.
