Thanks to Dan Kacmarcik, an artist that drove up to watch
me paint a bit and took some very welcome pictures, I have
now some pics of the painting I did in the two hour time
slot...that immediately sold off in the live auction that
followed.
Here is yours truly painting...
and in this next view, you can see that artist Susan
Diehl of Arizona is right next door working in her
office space. Brian Sindle, of Chicago...was set up
just slight to her left...
here then the final piece, 12"x 12" oil

Great pics Dad!
thanks Jason...
those birch panels worked pretty good, too!
Hi Larry,
What type of panels do you use?
Best,
Rob
www.frenchcanvas.com
I tend to make my own, Rob..
I buy a 4'x 8' sheet of high grade birch panel flooring, about $26...1/4"
I cut various sizes, then, seal with polyurethane all sides, and my primer is a gesso with 1 tblspn (per cup of gesso) of #FFF pumice powder added for absorption, grit and grab of paint. I'll prime my panels and paint as is...or otherwise, I glue canvas or linen onto the boards and then gesso.
thanks
I love how you really captured the dark wetness and the flashing sparkle in this one.
after putting down a bluish undertone with turps, the strokes building up were very much Impressionistic... dabbing color here and there imitating light, trusting the eyes would see water and dancing light near finishing.
Was a lot of fun...thanks, Carolyn
Great plein air dad of Jason!
