upper Michigan completed over this past
weekend...I thought it would be interesting
to play around with them. Gesturals...and
possible different moods...

An outdoor painter by preference- (setting up on location to paint from life), the works of this blog will be frequent exercises painted from whatever strikes my fancy with intent to sharpen my eye, push and stretch my understanding of paint. Note that my links will include my larger artist's site, and latest available giclee prints at Image Kind. Feel free to inquire to the availability of any works seen here.

Hello Larry -- I've been enjoying your plein air landscapes, they are so, well, airy. I actually prefer them to your in-studio landscapes (just my preference, no disrespect). I just feel the lightness of the air through the trees in the plein air paintings, so fresh, and impromptu. You make them look effortless, tho' I'm sure they are not. Beautiful color palettes, as well. Thanks for sharing them.
thanks much...
never wrong to hear of preferences in a world where diversity is encouraged and applauded. Vive la difference!
I like painting outdoors...capturing the personality of the aire, and it is so hard to replicate that indoors. Being able to do so instudio is a true skill. Someday perhaps.. :)
take care
Larry this one has such a great atmosphere. I really enjoy it.
thanks much...good to hear feedback on experiments especially. I have long been more a realist to a thing's appearance but perhaps to a fault of missing some of what the experience and encounter of a moment also "feels" like.
Trying to see and find if there is a balance to arrive at, or just different paintings with no best or better on this one point of distinction...
...call it a time of "wrestlings..." 8^)
