A Painter's Barn...!!! Plein Air oil painting

9"x 12" oil on pumice panel...

Received some panels from my friends for my birthday yesterday, primed them with my pumice recipe...and tonight painted about 20 miles from home going east (in NE Wisconsin). Set up...a wonderful colorful view of a nice barn, and happened to meet the owner walking down the road who just happens to be a painter, and just got a portable if I understood right. Now..in northern Wisconsin, that doesn't happen everyday! Then...on my way home, a black bear blasted across the highway, making my ninth bear I've seen up here in the past 5-6 weeks!

Range of colour becomes more apparent when picture is enlarged and the variety is wonderful as is the texture produced by the brush strokes.

Thanks Mick..

Since forgetting my medium a number of nights ago when I went out to paint, I'm intentionally trying to use it a bit more sparingly to increase the presence of the texture of the board beneath...and to work edges a bit more. We'll see how it goes. Appreciate your comments, thanks!
