Landscape Painting- 'Nuther of Peshtigo River series

Starting another large instudio piece, this one
40"x 48" stretched canvas toned reddish brown.
I used 2"x4" eight foot dried pine studs cut
lengthwise diagonally to build my stretcher
frames, and a cross bar...and find them to be
very sturdy for larger paintings.

Went with the reddish undertone hoping,
thinking it will excite the colors I'll build on top
but this early into the work not so sure reddish
brown was the right color. To my thinking, it
will turn out fine, but will take a bit of work
before it suddenly takes on that life that will
please my senses.
