Arbor Vitae Ice Shanties

9"x 12" oil
This is one of those rare plein airs I'll share here from time to time, this having been much fun. This past Saturday I traveled up to Arbor Vitae for their Chill Out festival, participated in a paint out with other artists to raise money for local charities, then spent the afternoon out on the lake painting during an ice fishing tournament. I thought this particular vacant shack had much character! What fun!
There were about 300 snowmobilers on the lake, and ice shacks everyone to be seen. A warm day in the 30's, with sunshine...and I easily painted without need for gloves.
