Thinking About Buying a new Plein Air easel...Beauport

Thinking about buying the cheaper version of the lengendary Gloucester, this one from ASW Express....the "Beauport"...

The easel is legendary for its light parts that spread out so far, that the wind simply does not affect it.  This would be great for my painting of the shores of Lake Superior for one...

There is good information on my friend Anthony Sell's blog...as there is a little makeshift fixes one should do with this easel, as anything that tends to be an imitation of the real thing...and Daniel Corey's blog

...and, here is a video put out by Beauport showing how it sets up, adjusts...etc.,

You likely not find enough room for viewing this wide format version, but just click on it to see it on YouTube itself...

Hi Larry,
Here in Portugal we don't have this kind of easel.
But I've allways wanted one (a romantic idea, I think).
So, anyway, as I am always seeking for new "things" I saw that the old gloucester easel made bY take-it-easel has new features.
It lost the old adjustment mechanisms and now they have a new mechanism, much simpler, reducing the possibility for malfunction, they say. The new internal spring mechanism is made from case-hardened stainless steel, and the knob is custom-designed and milled from solid brass, they say.
Beauport is much cheaper however.
Good luck with you choice.
