1700's British Fur Traders...Klondike Days

Watch a short clip on the painting of the Fur Trader...and note,
this alla prima exercise does not block in first any underpainting
of masses, but from the get go...each stroke laid is designed to
be a finishing stroke. A brushstroke laid, a brushstroke stayed.





























I had the feeling today I really could paint this same fella, same
pose about three or four more times until I could arrive at a
Sargent or S. Burdick-like portrait brevity with my brushwork.

...but, I think its a fairly decent painting for 10"x 8"...
